Sail to Life
Sailing sport will shed light on the disabled individual's self-discovery, and Alanya, which is far from seasonality, is in a perfect position for this. Moreover, the biggest feature that makes sailing sport different from other sports is that it can appeal to people of all ages and physiques.
The main purpose of our project is to contribute to increasing the awareness of the people in the region about physical disability, thus ensuring social integration, ensuring the participation of disabled individuals in the social life in the region, as well as sailing, which makes resistance, struggle, decision-making and self-confidence valuable at the same time, as much as the disability of our disabled young people allows. It is to help people achieve complete physical, medical, spiritual and social well-being.
Within the scope of the project, Alanya Municipality and Alanya Sailing Club are cooperating, and it is planned for the Physically Disabled Sailing Team established within the Sailing Club to participate in National and International competitions through training and training.
The cyclical benefit of the project is that our athletes who won medals by representing Turkey in sailing with physical disabilities will introduce more physically disabled individuals to sailing.
The progress and activities carried out in the project are listed below;
1- Within the scope of the "Sail for Life" project, the Physically Disabled Sailing team was established within the Alanya Yacht and Sailing Club Association.
2- A crane was installed at the MARINA by Alanya Municipality to easily launch the Paralympic Sailboats into the water.
3- Licenses have been issued for disabled athletes supported by Alanya Municipality under the Physically Disabled Sailing Team established within the Alanya Yacht and Sailing Club Association.
4- Special clothing was provided by Alanya Municipality for disabled athletes and theoretical and practical training was started within the Yacht & Sailing Club.
5- The first of the boats to be used within the scope of the project is by Antalya Chamber of Shipping, the second by ELİF AŞ. (Numan Gümrükçüler) to Alanya Municipality. The delivery of the third boat ordered in cooperation with ALTSO and Patika Association is awaited.
